BBQ Blueberry Sauce

  • 150g of Driscoll's Blueberries
  • 100g blueberry jam
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato purée
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp butter

This bold and tangy blueberry BBQ relish is the perfect way to elevate your summer feasts. Bursting with juicy blueberries, smoky spices, and a hint of sweetness, this rich and flavorful relish adds a vibrant twist to classic grilled burgers and steaks, making every bite irresistibly juicy and delicious.

Directions

In a saucepan over medium heat, MELT butter and add shallots.

COOK until soft (about 3 minutes), then ADD garlic and cook for another minute.

STIR in the fresh blueberries and let them soften and burst, about 5 minutes.

ADD blueberry jam, balsamic vinegar, cider vinegar, sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, tomato purée, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and mustard. Stir well.

LET the sauce cook on low for 10–15 minutes until thickened.

BLEND for a smooth consistency or leave slightly chunky for texture.

TASTE and ADJUST seasoning or add a splash of water if too thick.
